This is not what you might call a “typical” blog. I have never had much success at writing one of those. What you have here is more of a journal of my activities for learning Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Why would I do that? Because I love stories, and I am always looking for new ways to spark my internal “Story Voice” to come up with new ideas. It seems to me that one very good way to create those sparks would be to challenge myself to complete a flight around the globe and see what stories come out of that journey. We are talking about a real-time flight, beginning in one spot, heading East or West (I haven’t decided yet), and ending up back at that same spot. Hey, at my age (my doctor’s favorite phrase), why not?

This blog/journal begins by sharing some of my training flights intended to learn the system, and to begin hunting for story-sparks. There will be no real plan to these first flights. I will just pick and choose some places I have visited in the ‘real world’, and do my best to learn to fly the plane, find my way around, and learn the skills I will need later. Then, when all is ready, I will post the flight-by-flight journal of my big global adventure.
